The Threshold Method

REGULATE the Fear, REVEAL the Truth, REFINE the Work

THE THRESHOLD

In Creativity:

The place where you can raise emotional and cognitive performance without blowing past your self-regulation. It’s working at the Edge without tipping over.

In Human Psychology:

Window of Tolerance:

Your optimal zone, where stress and emotion are manageable and you stay present and effective. (Dr. Dan Siegel)

Optimal Arousal:

Performance peaks at optimal arousal—enough activation to stay sharp but not so much that it scrambles you. (Yerkes-Dodson)

Edgework:

Deliberately operating at the boundary between order and chaos to harness maximum focus.

In Canine Training:
Threshold of Perception:

The instant a dog first notices a trigger (like another dog or a person), and still remains calm and responsive.

Reactivity Threshold:

The point where arousal flips into barking, lunging, or shutdown.

Effective creativity happens at the Edge...just under the Threshold.

Reflective Inquiry

(noun) : a dialogue conducted with the purpose of exploring and elevating a subject

Rockin' Dog Studio

We offer all levels of traditional project development and manuscript/script editing—from concept to completion.

We work together.

Even typical structure analysis and editing demand deep dialogue, shared context, and an ear for your voice.

But that's just table stakes. What's different is how we unlock your Edge.

Reflective Inquiry

Our custom method of collaboration

It fuses your intellect and intuition, regulates fear, and surfaces what's true.

From that threshold

You tap in.

Your story. Your drive. Your voice.

Whole-brain on. Conscious and subconscious engaged. The result is deeper work and release-ready outcomes.

We help you find your Edge.

Want to Dive Deeper?

The architecture of story

Most long‑form projects start on an intellectual scaffold. Useful—until the writer clings to it. That’s when structure flattens voice and the work skims the surface.

We take a different route. Through reflective inquiry, we open a deeper dialogue that pulls from lived experience, not just outline. Authors report breakthroughs on familiar topics, surprising layers that feel intuitive, inspired, and true—even in academic work. If you’ve struggled to “find your voice,” this process aligns expression with purpose and genre.

The side effect many don’t expect: lasting personal change that strengthens the work.

It's up to you . . .

All of our dialogues, reflective or otherwise, are organic and experiential; how writers define, frame, and participate in the process is completely unique to them.

Regardless of whether you are interested in exploring the impacts of reflective inquiry, a CONSULT is the first step to assessing a potential relationship. Sharing your creative work at any level is an intimate process—and the best results are the product of rapport between participants.

Building a story together is fun.

It's about a good fit.

It's Edgy.

Are we your people?

It never hurts to find out.

  • We work with authors or screenwriters—in fiction, nonfiction, print or ebook, feature or television.

  • We work most effectively with authors who are willing to wonder. Willing to engage their intuition.

  • Are you eager to find—or reaffirm—your voice, and take ownership of your expression?

  • Most important, are you willing to consider, "Why me? What do I bring that no one else can bring? Why is my approach the best one for this project?"

  • Are you conceiving of a project, or already writing?

  • Are you ready for an edit? What level?

  • Looking for design, formatting, publishing? Writing a screenplay?

  • Stuck in the outline stage, or struggling with dialogue?

  • Have you written "the end," but you're not sure about everything else—is back matter scaring you?

  • Are you willing to rethink your assumptions?

  • Let's talk!
